FAQs
I want to order the system for a loved one. Can I pay the monthly fee and set up the billing to a separate address?
Yes, we do this all the time. The system makes a very popular gift for family and friends, so if you are ordering the service for someone else, be sure to mention this to our representative on the telephone so they can properly set up the billing for you.
Will the Help Button work if I am away from my home?
No, typically you must be inside your home for the system to work. However, depending on the size and layout of the house, it is usually possible for you to use the system in your front yard or back yard, since the Emergency Pendant has a very good range. Our highly trained installers will be happy to assess this for you at your home.
Is there a long-term contract I have to sign?
No, there is no annual contract for the LifeSentry service. If you wish to terminate the service, simply send written notice and we will cancel the service. Many other companies ask for contracts between one and three years.
If I press the help button, and I cannot respond to the operator, will you still send help?
Yes, of course we will. If we cannot hear you over the two-way voice system, the LifeSentry operator will be immediately calling your emergency contacts (friends, family, neighbor etc) and dispatching emergency services. However, you may request that we take different action, so if you have specific instructions for us, be sure to mention it when you speak to our representative.
Can I bring my Emergency Pendant into the shower?
Yes, absolutely! This lightweight Pendant is completely waterproof, giving you maximum mobility and flexibility inside your home. Feel free to use it in the shower or bathtub.
Can LifeSentry listen in and invade my privacy?
No, it is not possible; we guarantee it! Not only is eavesdropping illegal, our two-way communication technology is not designed to initiate a call, only to respond to a signal.
What important information should I know about VOIP Telephone Service?
There is a service available to provide a lower cost phone service over high-speed Internet (VoIP). AHS recommends that you use a regular landline telephone service for use with your Personal Emergency Response System. If you are considering replacing your existing telephone service with VoIP, please be aware that you may prevent your system from communicating with the monitoring station. This service is only as dependable as the internet connection in the premise, which can experience network outages or be affected by power failures. In fact, because of these service outages or slowdowns, many VoIP telephone providers advise their clients not to rely on their services for PERS systems. We are concerned about your safety and security and we want to ensure that your LifeSentry system provides you and your loved ones with consistent peace of mind. If you are using VoIP as your primary telephone service, we do not recommend installing the LifeSentry system.
What is live two-way communication, and what does it mean for safety?
Using LifeSentry’s two-way voice communication system, we can speak live to anyone in the home within seconds of receiving a help signal. Our highly trained operators can now hear what is happening on the premises to see if anyone is in trouble and needs help. We can immediately dispatch emergency services, and call a loved one or neighbor to alert them to the situation.
